Segment One
We begin with with Lydia Kiesling, who has written about Americans’ treatment of children. Child care is a huge issue in the US, with no solution yet in sight. This is in contrast to European nations, that have policies to support families with children. 97% of child gun deaths are in the US. What kinds of policies are needed to turn this tide?
Segment Two
We then catch up with Scott Braddock, the Editor of the Quorum Report about Texas. The mood is set to “General Election as Kate Cox has been invited to the State of the Nation by Biden. We also talk about the latest winter storm in Texas, and the recognition that fossil fuels will not be enough for future storms. Lastly we go to the seemingly endless border conflicts and the USs failed policies. Governor Abbot has increasingly militarized the border and continues to demand increased funding from Washington.
Governor Abbot is also determined to defy SCOTUS, and is in again flirting with secessionist rhetoric. The alt-right are referring to the incoming refugees as an invasion force but refuse to pass any immigration bills, in part because they fear they would help Biden.
