It has grown ever clearer that for journalism to truly be valuable to immigrant communities, journalists must be present for more than the most difficult moments. On April 18, we’re hosting a training in how to cover immigrant communities with dignity, agency and a focus on their aspirations, not just the struggles. “Covering Immigration Through a Solutions Lens” will explore how a solutions mindset can bring depth and nuance to your coverage. SJN Democracy Manager Jaisal Noor will lead the discussion with Hugo Balta, Publisher of the Latino News Network, Dianna Náñez, Executive Editor and Co-founder of Arizona Luminaria, and Shondiin Silversmith, Indigenous Affairs Reporter at Arizona Mirror.
