National Day of Action

On Election Day, the National Bar Association will show up—together.

The NBA National Day of Action will activate our members, Affiliates, Regions, Sections, and Divisions across the country in support of voters and Election Protection.

Through our partnership with the National Urban League and Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, NBA members can serve as trained Legal Observers/Legal Roving Monitors and support voter assistance and rapid response through 866-OUR-VOTE.

There are many ways to participate. Whether you serve on the ground, support the hotline, assist voters, engage your community, or join an approved partner opportunity, find your role and show up on Election Day.

Election Protection Volunteer Opportunities

National Bar Association | 2026 U.S. Midterm Elections | Nationwide volunteer initiative | Online and in-person opportunities

What You’ll Learn: Discover how legal professionals and community partners can help protect voting rights through nonpartisan voter assistance, legal observation, election monitoring and community education. Learn about opportunities to volunteer with the 866-OUR-VOTE Hotline or trained Legal Roving Monitor programs, including how voting-related problems are identified, documented and referred for assistance.

Why This Matters: Free and fair elections depend on eligible voters being able to exercise their rights without unnecessary barriers. Confusing election procedures, misinformation, accessibility challenges and voter intimidation can undermine public participation. Coordinated voter assistance and legal monitoring help communities identify problems, access reliable information and support accountable election administration.

Action Level: ACT

What You’ll Leave With: A practical pathway to participate in election protection, an understanding of available volunteer roles, access to registration and training resources, and opportunities to collaborate with legal professionals and community organizations.

Best For: Attorneys, law students, legal professionals, bar associations, civil rights advocates, community organizations, voting rights specialists and civic engagement leaders. Eligibility varies by assignment, and some roles require legal credentials and mandatory training.

Systems It Connects To:

  • Personal and digital democracy

  • Media and storytelling

  • Civic education and community engagement

Accessibility and Participation Support: Volunteer opportunities include remote hotline assistance and in-person legal monitoring. Required training is provided through participating organizations. Specific accommodations, captioning, interpretation and accessibility arrangements should be confirmed with the program coordinator.
