Four days to understand change, create opportunity, and build our own media alliance
January 12–15, 2027 | Global • Live • Interactive • Online
The big idea: What if the people solving the world’s problems had their own connected media network to share knowledge, reach more people, create opportunities, and work together?
The IMX brings together people already doing the work: systems changemakers, human rights advocates, community innovators, media makers, educators, and organizations preparing people for emerging careers.
Over four days, we move from understanding the problems to sharing working solutions, developing opportunities, and launching the Mobilized Media Alliance.
Our guiding principles: Human rights provide the foundation. Systems change provides the pathway. Connected media helps people work together.
The outcome: Not another conference that ends when the speakers leave. The beginning of a permanent, collaborative media ecosystem.

Turn four days of discovery into an ongoing collaborative network.

- The Commons Charter: Rights, ownership, integrity and accountability
- Working session: What members contribute and receive
- Build the network: Editorial, audio, Exchange and events
- Form initial working groups and identify coordinators
- Alliance founding invitation and next steps
Closing: The IMX ends. Our work together begins.
To deliver: An agreed path toward establishing the Alliance, an initial Commons Charter draft, volunteer working groups, and the first month of programming.
The destination: The Mobilized Media Alliance
The IMX is the gathering. Mobilized News is the ongoing connection. Be the Media is the invitation to participate. The Mobilized Media Alliance is the collaborative structure that brings them together.
- Four days of discovery, dialogue and connection
- Mobilized News
- Connects the stories, projects and people.
- Be the Media
- Enables participation and contribution.
THE MOBILIZED MEDIA ALLIANCE
- An ongoing network of independent media makers, systems changemakers, trainers and communities.
- The ongoing outcome: Shared stories • Working solutions • New partnerships • Career opportunities • Collective action
How do we turn this into a real alliance?
Five concrete decisions must come out of Day 4.
Agree on a common purpose
- Adopt human rights as the foundation, systems change as the approach, and independent, accountable media as the means.
Create the Commons Charter
- Define membership, editorial standards, story ownership, licensing, governance, transparency and how disputes are resolved. Keep creator rights intact unless explicitly agreed otherwise.
Establish working groups
- Recruit volunteers for editorial, audio programming, technology, partnerships, and membership. Give each group a coordinator and a first assignment.
Introduce and education the Mobilized shared publishing system
- Use Mobilized News to connect member stories, audio conversations, projects, events and opportunities. Make participation possible without requiring every member to abandon their existing platforms.
Publish a 30-day commitment
- Agree on the first programming schedule, ownership of tasks, deadlines, a follow-up meeting and measurable deliverables.
Important: The Alliance should launch as a founding initiative, not present itself as a fully established, member-governed organization before participants have actually agreed to its charter and structure.
What happens on Monday, January 18?
The IMX becomes an ongoing media experience.
Instead of creating an entirely new platform, use the existing Mobilized News ecosystem to begin publishing and connecting contributions.
The first weekly programming schedule
Proposed launch week: January 18–22, 2027
MON
The Big Picture
A five-minute editorial brief explaining one interconnected challenge and relevant solutions.
TUE
Flip the Script
Release an existing audio conversation, with an updated introduction and related resources.
WED
Solutions in Action
Feature one real project, its results and what others can learn.
THU
The Opportunity
Highlight an emerging career, training program or collaboration opportunity.
FRI
The Alliance Exchange
- Publish the week’s connections, open requests, commitments and next actions.
- This is designed as an audio-and-editorial program, without requiring new video production. Existing Flip the Script episodes can provide the initial programming library while Alliance members contribute new stories and conversations.
- Keep it manageable: Start with five editorial releases per week, one monthly live working session, and a simple public dashboard showing progress. Expand only when contributors and capacity are in place.
Now what? The Alliance begins.
For four days, we have explored what is wrong, what is working, what opportunities are emerging, and what becomes possible when we work together.
Now comes the important part: putting our connections to work.
- We invite independent media makers, systems changemakers, educators, organizations and communities to help build the Mobilized Media Alliance — a collaborative network dedicated to sharing knowledge, connecting solutions, advancing human rights, and enabling people to act.
- Don’t just leave inspired. Leave connected, committed, and ready to contribute.
BE THE MEDIA. BUILD THE ALLIANCE.
Four simple ways to begin:
- Join the founding network.
- Contribute a story, audio program or project.
- Join a working group.
- Help create the first 30 days of programming.
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
