What is Mobilized News?

Mobilized News is an interdependent, solutions-focused news and collaboration network. We help people understand what matters, why it is happening, how seemingly separate developments are connected, and what can be done about them. Our coverage brings together human rights, democracy, energy, food, health, technology, finance, transportation, communities, and the environment.

Explain what it does, the problem it addresses, who it serves, how far it has developed, and what assistance or partnerships you are seeking. Projects can range from early-stage concepts to established initiatives ready to expand.

The Exchange is also a place to post challenges, request expertise, find collaborators, and make resources available to others. A community looking for clean energy expertise might discover a suitable provider. A filmmaker might find a project seeking coverage. A social entrepreneur might connect with an organization that can use their innovation. The goal is to turn disconnected opportunities into useful relationships.

I have an event or livestream I’d like to amplify. How can I add it?

Mobilized features events and livestreams that help people understand important issues, discover solutions, build skills, and connect with others. We welcome public webinars, conferences, community gatherings, workshops, film screenings, educational programs, project launches, and working sessions. Events can be online, in person, or hybrid.

Submit your event through our Events + Livestreams calendar. Include a clear title, date, time, time zone, description, organizer, registration information, and viewing or participation details. Explain what participants will learn, why the event matters, and who would benefit from attending. Relevant events may also be considered for additional editorial visibility, although submitting an event does not guarantee a featured placement.

Where does Mobilized get its information?

Mobilized draws on a range of information sources, including independent journalism, original reporting, scientific research, academic institutions, public records, official announcements, international organizations, community initiatives, and direct submissions from people working on practical solutions. We look for original documentation and evidence that helps explain what happened, when it happened, who is affected, and what the development means.

We also invite journalists, organizations, researchers, media producers, and members of the public to contribute stories, updates, and information. These contributions are treated as potential source material rather than automatically accepted facts. Our editorial goal is to combine credible information with clear explanations, distinguish reporting from opinion, and make connections that help readers understand the larger picture.

How is Mobilized funded?

Mobilized operates as an independent public-interest media and collaboration initiative. Our model emphasizes cooperation, shared resources, and working relationships that help keep hosting and production costs low. Rather than building a conventional media business dependent on expensive infrastructure, our aim is to create a sustainable network through collaboration and efficient use of existing resources.

Mobilized’s published funding explanation states that it is not currently seeking funding. As the network develops, our commitment is to preserve editorial independence and keep essential information accessible to the public. Any future sponsorship, commercial arrangement, or funding relationship should be clearly identified and distinguished from editorial coverage.

Who is behind Mobilized?

Mobilized News was co-founded by Steven Jay, its executive producer, and grew from a commitment to using media as a tool for public understanding, cooperation, and meaningful change. Building on the feature documentary We the People with the Power, Mobilized has evolved into a connected news, media, and solutions network designed to bridge the gap between knowing about problems and doing something about them.

Mobilized is also a collaborative undertaking. Its wider network brings together independent creators, journalists, advocates, educators, researchers, innovators, and organizations with complementary expertise and shared interests. The goal is not to make any one person or institution the center of the story. It is to build an accessible network in which people improving the world can discover one another and help useful ideas travel farther.

Is there any cost to participate?

Mobilized is designed around open access. You can read its public news coverage, explore Daily Signals, discover information, and learn about projects and events without a subscription or news paywall. The intention is to make essential public-interest information available to everyone, regardless of income or institutional affiliation.

Our goal is also to make basic participation accessible, including joining the network and submitting relevant news, projects, solutions, and events. Individual event organizers or service providers may have their own charges, which are separate from Mobilized. Any future paid services, sponsorship opportunities, or special arrangements should be clearly identified before someone commits to them.

International Media Exposition & Experience

January 13–14, 2027

Human rights through systems change.

On January 13–14, 2027, Mobilized News, in association with the Human Rights Action Center, will bring together human rights advocates, media makers, systems thinkers, community leaders, and people developing practical solutions for a global participatory media experience. The program will explore how human rights can move beyond declarations and become guiding principles for designing the systems people depend on every day. Participants will examine the causes of recurring problems, discover alternatives, and connect with people working to improve food, energy, health, education, finance, transportation, media, and community life.

The IMX is designed to be more than a conference or collection of presentations. It is an opportunity to showcase solutions, contribute independent media, share projects, identify challenges, meet collaborators, and create opportunities for practical cooperation. Participants can help shape the experience by submitting stories, films, innovations, events, and expertise. The objective is to make the connections and knowledge generated during the event useful long after January 14.

The Big Picture is Mobilized News’ flagship media experience. It starts with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as humanity’s shared destination and asks what systems are required to make those rights real in everyday life. It connects human rights with food, health, housing, energy, democracy, media, technology, finance, transportation, cities, climate and other interdependent systems — moving audiences from problem → cause → connection → possibility → action.

Daily Pressure Points

Daily Pressure Points identifies where systems are under the greatest strain. It connects visible crises — conflict, hunger, displacement, democratic erosion, climate shocks, health emergencies or economic stress — to the deeper structures producing them. Most importantly, it asks what pressure point could be addressed upstream so that society is not continually treating symptoms downstream.

Innovations on This Day

Innovations on This Day uses history to show that transformational change is possible. It identifies breakthroughs, discoveries, movements, inventions and social advances that occurred on the same date across history, then reveals the patterns connecting them. It reminds audiences that today’s systems were created by people — and therefore today’s systems can also be redesigned by people.
