What does the next neighborhood need to know?

When a street floods, the pictures travel. The neighbors who mapped the blocked drains, the engineer who listened and the families still waiting for repairs have a longer story to tell.

Mobilized invites residents, reporters and independent media makers to tell that story together. Start with a question people in your community want answered. Help them find out what happened. Come back when something changes.

Bring us a local story

A restoring vision for community media

Community media does some of its most important work after the public meeting ends. Somebody checks whether the promised repair happened. A neighbor who needed an interpreter gets to ask a question on air. A reporter puts the answer somewhere people can find it six months later. That is one way to rebuild trust and a shared record of what happened.

Imagine two neighborhoods facing the same flooding. A community radio host in one interviews residents about a drainage repair. A student filmmaker in the other screens the interview at a library and asks which parts might work on their streets. The most useful part of the exchange might be hearing why the first repair failed.

That is the role we envision for Mobilized. Help communities document what they learn about the health of their people and their surroundings, keep the people who did the work visible, and put their reporting within reach of others facing the same question.

Where would you like to start?

I know a story that deserves coverage

Tell us where it is happening, who is affected and what you have seen firsthand. A question, a public record and someone willing to talk are a good starting point. Pitch a story or interview.

I need someone to help tell it

Maybe your watershed group has years of water readings and needs a reporter to investigate them. In the Exchange, choose Story or Project Seeking Media Coverage. Describe the location, evidence and help you need. Find a media partner through the Exchange.

I can offer a skill or a place to broadcast

Can you record an interview, translate it, edit the audio or offer airtime on a local station? Choose Media Creator Available or Offers of Help. Say where you work, which languages you use and whether your offer is paid or volunteer. Offer your skills in the Exchange.

I have a program people can watch or hear

Bring a documentary, radio segment, podcast or upcoming livestream. Include the subject, language, running time and where people can tune in. If stations may rebroadcast it, tell them how to get permission. Share a recorded program or list a live event.

Before you press record

Ask people what they want others to understand and whether you may record and share their words. Credit their work. Check claims against records and other accounts. Tell your audience what you could verify, what remains open and how to reach you with a correction.

Whose knowledge would help your community make its next decision? Send Mobilized the question you want to follow.
