The Great Fragmentation

ACT FOUR — THE GREAT FRAGMENTATION

We built interconnected problems.

Then created institutions designed to solve them separately.

Energy departments deal with energy.

Health ministries deal with health.

Agriculture departments deal with food.

Transportation departments deal with mobility.

Environmental agencies deal with pollution.

Newsrooms organize everything into separate beats.

Universities divide knowledge into disciplines.

Corporations divide responsibility into departments.

Governments divide problems into jurisdictions.

But life doesn’t recognize those boundaries.

That becomes one of the most important questions in the film:

What if many of our problems persist because we’re looking at the pieces instead of the relationships?
