A well-informed public is the most valuable natural resource of all.

What is Mobilized?

  • Connected media for an interconnected world.
  • A living, breathing web of life.
  • Mobilized connects people, knowledge, stories and practical opportunities to help create a world that works for all.
  • Here, a story can lead to a discovery. A discovery can lead to a conversation. A conversation can connect a community with the people, skills and resources to move forward. What they learn becomes knowledge others can use.
  • That is how the ecosystem grows: through participation, cooperation and shared learning.
  • Less talking. More doing.

Why Mobilized exists

  • We have more information than we can absorb. Yet finding clear explanations, trustworthy knowledge and practical ways to participate can still be difficult.
  • Useful research, community experience and working solutions often remain disconnected from the people who need them.
  • Mobilized helps make those connections.
  • We examine what is happening, why it is happening, who is affected and what could work better. Then we help people identify a useful next step.
  • Context and clarity come first. Participation gives that understanding somewhere to go.

Our mission

To advance human rights and the health of people and planet by making the systems shaping our lives understandable, connecting knowledge with lived experience, and helping people turn ideas into informed action.

Our work follows five questions:

What is changing? What is driving it? Who is affected? What could work better? What will it take?

Signals → Systems → Risks → Solutions → Capability

Our vision

A world where people can understand the decisions affecting their lives, help shape those decisions, and access the knowledge and relationships needed to build healthier communities.

Mobilized is building an open, continuing media ecosystem where useful discoveries travel across borders, disciplines and generations—and communities can learn from one another.

A well-informed public is the most powerful and valuable natural resource of all.

What are the components of the ecosystem?

Each part provides a different starting point. Together, they connect understanding with participation.

World Stage Our developing, always-open media experience connecting sectors, stories, innovators and opportunities. Explore the whole picture and discover a path into the work.
  • We follow the relationships between food, energy, public and planetary health, circular production, finance, democracy, technology and cybersecurity, cities, transportation, and media.
  • Human rights run through every area.
  • An energy story, for example, can also be a story about household costs, food storage, public health and community ownership. Mobilized follows those connections so people can see the consequences—and the possibilities.

Who is behind Mobilized?

  • Mobilized is led by Steven Jay, Executive Producer and Co-Founder, and shaped by the people who contribute to its work.
  • Our wider ecosystem connects media makers, scientists, educators, systems designers, human rights advocates, entrepreneurs and community practitioners.
  • People contribute in different capacities: as producers, advisers, contributors, collaborators and interview guests. These roles carry different responsibilities. Appearing in an interview does not make someone a member of the operating team.
  • Our Team, Friends and Advisors page provides further background on the people connected with Mobilized.

What is our collective background?

  • Our foundation is public-interest communication: journalism, television, documentary production, interviews and storytelling that make complex issues easier to understand.
  • Mobilized began in 2018 as a communication tool for scientists and journalists. It evolved into a solutions-focused television series on Free Speech TV, the documentaries “We Are One” and “We the People, We the Power,” and a wider network dedicated to systems change.
  • Across that network, professional knowledge meets practical and lived experience.
  • Researchers help explain the evidence. Practitioners show what implementation requires. Community members reveal consequences that institutions may overlook. Creators help that knowledge reach people in useful ways.

This exchange of perspectives shapes our work.

Is Mobilized political?

Mobilized is independent and nonpartisan, with a clear commitment to human rights, scientific inquiry, public accountability and ecological well-being.

We examine governments, corporations, institutions and policies because their decisions affect people’s lives. Our approach is to evaluate evidence and consequences, apply consistent standards, and distinguish reporting from opinion.

We welcome thoughtful disagreement and questions that improve understanding.

Our guiding questions are straightforward: Who benefits? Who carries the cost or risk? Whose experience is missing? What does the evidence show? What would improve people’s lives?

Not right. Not left. Forward.

How can you get involved?

  • Start with something you know, something you need or something you can contribute.
  • Create a free member account and complete your profile with a short introduction, your interests and the experience you would like to share. Then choose a practical contribution.

Submit a story

  • Use the story submission form to share a development, investigation, research finding, community initiative or working solution.
  • Tell us what is happening, where it is happening, why it matters, who is involved and what others can learn. Include supporting evidence, source material and a contact we can approach for further information.
  • We welcome clear accounts of both progress and difficulties. Understanding what failed—and why—can be as useful as describing a success.

Submit an event

  • Share a relevant webinar, workshop, screening, working session or public conversation through the event submission route.
  • Include the title, organizer, date, time and time zone, location or online access details, registration information, any cost and the intended audience.
  • Explain what participants can learn or contribute. If a recording will be available, include that information.

Add a listing to The Exchange

  • Use The Exchange directory to make a practical need or offer discoverable.
  • You can share a project seeking support, a problem seeking a solution, an available service, an offer of help, a collaboration request or a media opportunity.
  • Choose the relevant category and region. Describe what you offer or need, who it is for, the stage of the work and how people can respond.
  • Be specific. “Seeking a volunteer editor for a ten-minute community energy film” gives someone a clearer way to help than “Looking for collaborators.”

Contribute in other ways

  • Bring professional expertise, community knowledge, research, translation, production skills or a useful introduction. Suggest an interview, share a correction or help explain a subject people find confusing.
  • Submissions and listings are reviewed for relevance and authenticity. Sending material does not guarantee publication or constitute Mobilized’s endorsement.

How is Mobilized financed?

  • Mobilized has been self-funded by its co-founders, drawing on resources from earlier media work.
  • Collaboration and cooperation help us keep hosting and production costs low. This approach supports our purpose: making useful knowledge and participation more accessible.
  • The ecosystem also depends on the time, skills and experience people choose to contribute.

Why is participation free?

  • Because the ability to contribute should not depend on the ability to pay.
  • Important knowledge lives in communities, classrooms, laboratories, workshops, farms and independent studios. Free membership helps more of those voices enter the conversation.
  • Participation also strengthens the ecosystem. A contribution can help someone understand a problem, find a collaborator or avoid repeating a mistake.
  • Joining Mobilized is free. Costs associated with an independently organized event, product or service are separate and should be checked with its provider.
  • Free access comes with shared responsibilities: accuracy, respect, transparency and care for the people affected by what we publish and share.

Find your place in the web of life
