How do we turn this into a real alliance?

Five concrete decisions must come out of Day 4.

Agree on a common purpose

  • Adopt human rights as the foundation, systems change as the approach, and independent, accountable media as the means.

Create the Commons Charter

  • Define membership, editorial standards, story ownership, licensing, governance, transparency and how disputes are resolved. Keep creator rights intact unless explicitly agreed otherwise.

Establish working groups

  • Recruit volunteers for editorial, audio programming, technology, partnerships, and membership. Give each group a coordinator and a first assignment.

Introduce and education the Mobilized shared publishing system

  • Use Mobilized News to connect member stories, audio conversations, projects, events and opportunities. Make participation possible without requiring every member to abandon their existing platforms.

Publish a 30-day commitment

  • Agree on the first programming schedule, ownership of tasks, deadlines, a follow-up meeting and measurable deliverables.

Important: The Alliance should launch as a founding initiative, not present itself as a fully established, member-governed organization before participants have actually agreed to its charter and structure.

What happens on Monday, January 18?

The IMX becomes an ongoing media experience.

Instead of creating an entirely new platform, use the existing Mobilized News ecosystem to begin publishing and connecting contributions.

  • Publish the week’s connections, open requests, commitments and next actions.
  • This is designed as an audio-and-editorial program, without requiring new video production. Existing Flip the Script episodes can provide the initial programming library while Alliance members contribute new stories and conversations.
  • Keep it manageable: Start with five editorial releases per week, one monthly live working session, and a simple public dashboard showing progress. Expand only when contributors and capacity are in place.

Now what? The Alliance begins.

For four days, we have explored what is wrong, what is working, what opportunities are emerging, and what becomes possible when we work together.

Now comes the important part: putting our connections to work.

  • We invite independent media makers, systems changemakers, educators, organizations and communities to help build the Mobilized Media Alliance — a collaborative network dedicated to sharing knowledge, connecting solutions, advancing human rights, and enabling people to act.
